چکیده
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the control three species bacteria commonly associated with biologically contaminated water, using biofiltration. In study, a laboratory-scale biofilter system used Escherichia coli , Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in fresh water. Simulated water inoculated test pathogens at starting inocula ~1000 CFU 100 mL −1 challenge biofilters. Biofilter systems operating within recirculation configuration demonstrated significant reduction E. (99%), P. (92%) after 24 h. Conversely, all sterile did not show any pathogens. Subsequent analysis media circulation showed that 0% recovered from biofilter, whereas 0.06% 1.26% were respectively. Further investigation enterococci an environmentally-derived surface 99.8% 99.4% conclusion, work demonstrates can be significantly reduce waterborne pathogenic potential application low-cost, energy efficient for management bacterial supplies is discussed.

Effect of Probiotic Bacteria Culture on Pathogenic Bacteria from Fresh Water Fish Oreochromis Mossambicus
Fish diseases are one of the major problems in fresh water biota. There is an urgent need in aquaculture to develop microbial control strategies, since diseases epidemics are recognized as important constraints to aquaculture production, trade and the development of antibiotic resistance has become a matter of growing concern. In this study, we evaluated the tilapia fish (Oreochromis mossambicu...
متن کاملEfficacy of new point-of-use water filter for preventing exposure to Legionella and waterborne bacteria.
BACKGROUND Legionella species cause health care-acquired infections in which immunocompromised patients are disproportionately affected. Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated that point-of-use water fixtures are the reservoirs for these infections. The current approach to prevention is system-wide chemical disinfection of the hospital water system. These methods affect both low-risk and high-...
متن کاملInteraction between waterborne pathogenic bacteria and Acanthamoeba castellanii
Waterborne bacteria cause global public health problems. Francisella tularensis causes tularemia, which is a fatal disease in humans. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic and nosocomial pathogen of humans. Vibrio cholerae O1 and V. cholerae O139 infect only humans and cause epidemic and pandemic cholera. The principal natural reservoirs of these pathogens are largely unknown. To find thei...
متن کاملa novel active power filter control methodology
this paper presents a new control methodology for active power filters that provide an adaptive online harmonic estimation with partial and selective harmonic reduction schemes, which has been implemented within an integrated controller. the proposed approach is to provide partial and selective reduction of those individual harmonics which exceed the recommended levels as set by regulatory bodi...
متن کاملMicrobial survey of a full-scale, biologically active filter for treatment of drinking water.
The microbial community of a full-scale, biologically active drinking water filter was surveyed using molecular techniques. Nitrosomonas, Nitrospira, Sphingomonadales, and Rhizobiales dominated the clone libraries. The results elucidate the microbial ecology of biological filters and demonstrate that biological treatment of drinking water should be considered a viable alternative to physicochem...
